Information for learning providers

With its nationwide promotional campaign and its high profile activities, Adult Learners' Week offers organisations such as yours a framework within which to promote what you do.

The definition of 'adult learning' in the context of Adult Learners' Week is a broad one. Many organisations that present adult learning activities may not realise that they are part of the 'lifelong learning' movement in Australia. (If you are unsure, see our overview of learning opportunities for examples of organisations offering different forms of learning activities).

Adult Learners' Week is an opportunity for all organisations that offer any form of adult learning activity to either present a special promotional activity, or to label their existing learning activities as 'Adult Learners Week' activities.

By doing this, together we can raise the profile and value of adult learning among the Australian community.

If adult learning has a higher profile then more Australians will become aware of the tremendous benefits that come from lifelong learning, more adults will participate in learning, and the wider community will recognise the value of this aspect of learning in Australia.

In Australia, Adult Learners' Week is supported by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and is coordinated nationally by Adult Learning Australia. In addition, each state and territory has a coordinator appointed by government (click here for contact details).
