Father who killed baby gets 3 years

A FATHER killed his pain-stricken three-week-old son because he was angry at not being able to sleep, a judge said yesterday.

Justice Bernard Teague said Stewart Thomas Clay killed his vulnerable child after letting frustration get the better of him.

He sentenced Clay, of Camperdown, who had earlier pleaded guilty to manslaughter, to a minimum of three years in jail.

The Supreme Court judge said Clay was cradling 22-day-old Zachary in his right arm at his Cobden home about 2am on March 11 this year to get the infant to sleep.

The 32-year-old tree-lopper had got home from work at 11pm and needed to get up again at 6am.
