The Wyndham Learning Festival

Friday September 1st - Friday September 8th

This is a community-wide event of lifelong learning across the municipality of Wyndham in Victoria from 1-8 September. There are 135 free learning activities this year ranging from arts, crafts, sports, games, cooking, dancing, music, story-telling, writing and more. This lifelong learning festival encourages learning of all ages and interests. Businesses, schools, clubs, groups, higher education providers and early childhood centres are all encouraged to run an activity and participate.

This year as part of the opening we have a Pop-Up School in the centre of Werribee in a small park, that will showcase local people running learning activities over the afternoon. Following on from last year’s success, Wyndham libraries will also hold a Rhyme Time session in the Werribee Zoo for families.

Share Your Learning Story

PRACE, Merrilands Community Centre VIC Reservoir

The Connecting the Community group will Coordinate an event entitled ‘Share Your Learning Story’.

The participants will coordinate a morning tea where students from across the organisation will be encouraged to submit a story regarding their learning experience as adult learners.

Most of the students at PRACE are students from non English speaking backgrounds who have come to Australia as immigrants and/or refugees.

The group will visit each group and invite the students to write their story outlining their experience as an adult learner.

At the morning tea each student will then be encouraged to read their story.

All students who submit a story will be given a Certificate of Participation.

The Wyndham Learning Festival

Friday September 1st - Friday September 8th

This is a community-wide event of lifelong learning across the municipality of Wyndham in Victoria from 1-8 September. There are 135 free learning activities this year ranging from arts, crafts, sports, games, cooking, dancing, music, story-telling, writing and more. This lifelong learning festival encourages learning of all ages and interests. Businesses, schools, clubs, groups, higher education providers and early childhood centres are all encouraged to run an activity and participate.

This year as part of the opening we have a Pop-Up School in the centre of Werribee in a small park, that will showcase local people running learning activities over the afternoon. Following on from last year’s success, Wyndham libraries will also hold a Rhyme Time session in the Werribee Zoo for families.

A cultural tour of Deniliquin’s lagoon system: Starts at Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre with talks at various locations about weaving, fish stocks, construction of the lagoon system and bush tucker. Storytelling and cultural displays will be shown at the Library.

The Wyndham Learning Festival

Friday September 1st - Friday September 8th

This is a community-wide event of lifelong learning across the municipality of Wyndham in Victoria from 1-8 September. There are 135 free learning activities this year ranging from arts, crafts, sports, games, cooking, dancing, music, story-telling, writing and more. This lifelong learning festival encourages learning of all ages and interests. Businesses, schools, clubs, groups, higher education providers and early childhood centres are all encouraged to run an activity and participate.

This year as part of the opening we have a Pop-Up School in the centre of Werribee in a small park, that will showcase local people running learning activities over the afternoon. Following on from last year’s success, Wyndham libraries will also hold a Rhyme Time session in the Werribee Zoo for families.

NACYS is offering 2 concurrent workshops over three mornings that everyone is welcome to attend.

The focus of the gardening workshop will be on creating an eating garden in small downsized spaces, so particularly useful for seniors in the community who only have limited space to grow.

The focus of the cooking workshops will be using what you grow into a healthy inexpensive meal; we will also discuss how to build a sustainable larder that will meet your everyday needs.

Sharing the food and having great conversations will celebrate the new learning or revisiting things we once knew.

Workshops start at 10:00 am and shared lunch at 12.30 pm. Everybody attending will take home a folder full of recipes and hints, a small grocery pack as well as a basic patio garden kit.

Options Day 2017 is held at the Bundaberg Multiplex Centre on Thursday 7 September. This event is held annually and is an opportunity for people with disabilities to access information regarding skills development and educational pathways. Intergenerational and all inclusive, businesses and community organisations showcase their services to the community, and provide handouts and packs of information. Entertainment from a local school drumming group, animal petting zoo, a free BBQ and much much more. Mobility inspired displays of equipment accompany a wheel chair basketball game, sand chair for the beach and ping pong for all the ages.
